I guess it's my luck
I wrote my last exam on Wednesday and went to see LOTR with Drew, Amanda and her sister Jen. It was awsome. Afterwards I found out both my Grandpa and Grandma had fallen ill with the flu and they were competly out of groceries and drugs that kind of soothe them through their illness.
So Drew and I went shopping and dropped off all sorts of supplies. I knew just walking into the Apartment was setting me up to get the flu as I seem to have no immune system. I was also already dealing with a slightly sacrtchy throat I get every holiday season. I Usually chalk it up to Dry weather.
My grandparents really needed the help and they don't ask that often, So I risked myself.
Turns out the next morning I wake up to a full blown throat infection AND a bladder infection. Just Great. Now I suffer these two infections with fear of impending flu. I called the doctors office immediatly because I knew I was going to need antibiotics and I would need them fast. I spent the whole day worrying if I got the flu and couldn't keep down antibiotics what kind of problems or complications could this cause?(I know no one likes to be sick, I think somtimes I worry more about being sick than most)
So between 6 am and 4 pm I ate nothing in fear of feeding the bacteria and downed aproxamatly 25 glasses of water trying to flush my body and keep my bladder infection at bay. When I finnaly got into the Doctor and explained my predicament he thought I would most definatly need anti biotics. Then perscribed me some pills.
I asked him, if on the off chance I threw them up, ( because of possible flu)what then? He said that they wouldn't work and there could be compications and that I might have to come see him or go to the hospital. (I thought he understood what my concerns were) I asked if there was anything that we could do NOW to stop the bladder infection and keep me from having to come back because of complications. He then asked me if I had medical coverage, ( This pissed me off, I want to know all options and medical coverage shouldn't make a difference ) I asked "how does medical coverage give me rights that make a difference in options I have regarding my health? I deserve to know all options regardless of coverage." He said ( not looking at me)there is a one dose liquid treatment he could give me designed for women who have infrequent bladder infections, but it can be expensive. And that it would be optimal for me to take the pills and liquid together, and there wouldn't be the risk If I threw the pills up later. I told him I would like him to write me up the script for both of them. It makes me angry that he offered the treatment that wasn't the best option based on the fact that he thought I had no medical coverage. I do have coverage. But I would hate to think someone else wouldn't be offered good health just because of that. I think health issues and rights are somthing I could rant on about for hours so I can just stop that here and now because I'm sure my point is made.
But It's my luck that an hour after I take the liquid one dose that the Flu hits me full force. I spent from 6pm to 7 am this morning staying as still as possible and downing gravol and tylonol just to not bring up my medication. I couldn't have done it without Drew by my side ( he missed even missed gaming with the boys) by noon today I felt much better and risked my first meal. I'm doing much better now. I am just going to have to lay low for a couple of days to get over this completly, After all I hope to have a couple of speacial guests soon. K. Call me Anytime I hope your flight went well, and I hope your keeping warm.
